Thank you to everyone who attended the ULUC presenation on Saturday. We plan on holding more of these through out the community. If you are interested in holding an ULUC presenation in your area, please feel free to contact us or contact North West Property Owners Alliance. We hope to have video up of this presentation soon too!
This website was created for citizens to learn more about the Comprehensive Plan (passed in December 2010) and the Unified Land Use Code (ULUC) that is currently being proposed in Kootenai County, Idaho and to be able to connect with other concerned citizens regarding their property rights.
The ULUC draft is now complete and there will soon be a period for citizens to comment on the draft. We are recommending that if you own property in the county that you look at the current zoning map, the new proposed ULUC zoning map, the new interactive proposed ULUC map, and then try to research the description of what your new ULUC zoning will be. The ULUC is complex, so we are also asking property owners to go to the planning department and ask them directly how their zoning will change and what new restrictions could be placed on their property. Remember property is many people's biggest investment. Don't allow 3 people (the Kootenai County Commissioners) to vote on this in the fall without letting them know how it will affect YOUR INVESTMENT!
Please join our email list to see how you can be a part of protecting property rights here in Kootenai County and be alerted to any meetings coming up. This is a grassroots effort, so any help or talent anyone can offer to this cause will always be greatly appreciated.
☆NOTE: We have joined forces with another local website that provides great property owner information about the negative aspects of the KC Comprehensive plan, proposed ULUC regulations, Impact Fees and more. Please check out: www.nwpoa.org.

"Communitarianism is the balancing of the individual's rights against those of the community. Because the rights of the community are not defined in a constitution they can change without warning or notice; one's individual rights are balanced against a continuously defined amorphous rulebook. This rule book is written in the dark and the individual runs up against it at dawn, and alone... In the US Constitution we are guaranteed rights that we were born with: life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The last right, under the philosophy of John Locke, was "property." Property is not just land. YOU are your own property!"
